Don’t use horn at residential areas, edu institutions: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police today instructed drivers to not use loud horns near residential areas and educational institutions, citing health risks.
Pedestrians, passengers, other drivers, and patients often face serious health risks due to the unnecessary use of loud horns in Dhaka. The decision was taken to solve this problem. Drivers are requested to comply with the rule legitimised by Section 45 of the Road Transport Act 2018, as per a press release.
Additionally, it also asked motorbikers to avoid carrying multiple pillions and reinforced the use of helmets, citing the act’s Section 49, to avoid accidents.
DMP’s traffic division sought cooperation of all as legal action will be taken against rule violators, the press release added.
